Tucked away within the picturesque grounds of Hetton Limeworks—a 13-acre former farm—guests can explore a tranquil setting featuring a wildflower meadow, a peaceful lake, and enchanting woodlands.

Dogs
Hamish is our lovable resident dog, a small rescue with a big heart. Part Border Terrier, part Jack Russell, and a dash of mystery, he’s the unofficial guide to our grounds.
Bringing your own dog? Hamish will be delighted to show them around our woodland and paddock—perfect for stick-chasing and leisurely strolls.
We’ve even got a dedicated dog bath with hot water on hand, though Hamish prefers skipping bath time altogether!
Children
Set across 12 acres of gardens, woodlands, and a vibrant wildflower meadow, The Limeworks is a haven for family adventures.
Children can let their imaginations run wild—building dens, kicking a football around, riding bikes, or bouncing on the trampoline.
We’ve got plenty of outdoor toys to keep little ones entertained, and our son Arthur is always on hand to share his favorite toys and give your children a personal tour of the grounds.
Dark Skies
Northumberland is renowned for its breathtaking Dark Skies, offering some of the most stunning stargazing opportunities in the UK. In recent years, we’ve been fortunate enough to witness some truly incredible displays of the Northern Lights, which have lit up the skies in mesmerising colors and patterns.
Each of our properties is equipped with telescopes and stargazing guides, inviting you to step outside and explore the wonders of the night sky. Who knows what celestial sights await?
Wildlife
Guests often marvel at the wildlife around The Limeworks. Common sights include roe deer roaming the woods, hares in the paddocks, and a variety of partridge and pheasant. Our pond is home to wild ducks, moorhens, and the occasional goose.
We’re also fortunate to have a visiting barn owl, along with bats and an array of birdlife that graces our grounds throughout the year. To help you spot these creatures, each of our cottages is equipped with a pair of binoculars and a birdwatching book.
